The South Bend Tribune – Jonathan Noble

I formerly lived in the People’s Republic of China for more than 12 years, about a quarter of my life. I had the privilege of studying there as a college student, working there during my doctoral studies and, most recently, helping the University of Notre Dame expand outreach and connectivity. I have spent more than 20 years learning and speaking Mandarin. I have translated thousands of words from Mandarin into English —poetry, film scripts, fiction, essays, plays and more. I have conducted thousands of hours of research in Beijing — from film studios to alleyways to the National Library.
