While English, math and science form the trilogy of staple sectors that children learn throughout school, only one is frequently looked back on as “unnecessary,” “unusable” or redundant to adult life. Oddly, that subject is the one that looks set to shape businesses, business leaders, economies and even our society in the future. Mathematics remains the dubious subject that people look back on with dismay or disinterest. Many people openly ponder why they ever needed to learn algebra, trigonometry, formulas or even mental arithmetic — especially now when calculators are embedded into our phones.
