About 32 kids ages 2 to 5 years old in Sydney, Australia were examined throughout two separate daycares. They participated in testing sessions learning how to pair letters and sounds for two to four weeks. The children did so without napping. A week later, they repeated the tests. Only this time the kids got to rest after learning. According to the results, the kids performed better after the daytime nap and their ability to match sounds and letters stayed the same the following day.
