The world is more open to those who can communicate effectively in another country, and it can help those when they travel. Children who are born into bilingual families already have an advantage by constantly being exposed to a different language, and they normally grow up speaking both. Children who grow up in a single-language household may need their parents to help them learn a second language for their own benefit.
