Outside the Box – Christy Johnson
The Presidential Inauguration will be held in Washington DC on Monday, January 21, 2013. A week of festivities will include the Presidential Swearing-in Ceremony, as our country will watch as President Obama takes the oath of office and gives the inaugural address. During this week we will also be celebrating National Handwriting Day on January 23, 2013. Children were invited to write letters of advice to their new president. Students were encouraged to give advice and express their hopes and dreams. The only requirement was that the letters be handwritten. The “Letters of Advice from America’s Children” were sent to the White House through Handwriting Without Tears. Mrs. Sellers asked her students to participate in this effort. Here are some of the letters that were sent.
