With all of the back-to-school lead up to the first day, you would think that having a perfect day-after-Labour-Day is critical to school success. It’s not. Just like a “perfect” wedding doesn’t guarantee future happiness, the first day of classes is just one step toward a good year. In both cases, ongoing communication is key. Starting the school conversation now allows time to process, make plans and be better psychologically prepared. It might take a couple of tries to get to important issues, so starting now means there’s less of a chance you’ll be blindsided by something major the night before school starts. (more)
